Essie Here to Stay Base Coat
Start with a base coat, as it gives a smooth layer to start with which means no lumps or bumps when you apply the colour.
The thought of a base coat used to scare me, as adding any more time into my nail routine put me off. But this base coat dries within seconds, so adding it to your routine makes no difference to the time, but all the difference to the look and quality!
They also have a good selection of different base coats for different needs i.e, nail strengthening or long lasting colour.
Check out their collection here!
Essie Colour
Apply x2 coats of colour straight after applying the base coat. Some of my favourites are pictured above.
I love Essie products so much because they don’t break the bank and they have different colours for different looks and needs.
For example, for long-lasting bold and bright nails, their Gel Couture product range is amazing. Or for a more classic, nourishing and everyday nail, their Treat, Love & Colour collection is perfect.

Essie Gel-Setter Top Coat
This is a complete game changer. Not only does it make the polish last perfectly chip free for two/three weeks – it gives them extra shine and gloss (just like gels) and sets the nail varnish super quick so you can be back on the go and doing your normal daily hand movements within 15 minutes. So no more telling your boyfriend you can’t cook dinner tonight because your nails are wet!
I began using their Gel Couture Topcoat as it works best with their Couture collection. But I have now moved onto using their Gel-Setter Topcoat which is just as fab, and the added benefit of using this is it gives an even more glossy and gel-like look! Either would work fine with any Essie colour you pick.
You can buy the Gel-Setter here!
And there it is!
My quick and easy salon perfect nails at home recipe.
3 products. 3 steps and 3 weeks of chip-free, gel-like nails!
If you’re wanting to test out Essie before buying the whole range, I would recommend trying out the Gel Couture Range and using it with the Top Coat first! This for me, is the longest lasting Essie range which I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for longevity and value for money.
P.S. Boots always do 3 for 2 on ALL Essie products…so get yourself to Boots and get a bargain!
